A delegation from the Arab Community Conference in the United Kingdom visited the Embassy of Algeria in London, where they met His Excellency Ambassador Nourredine Yazid, who received the delegation warmly and expressed his appreciation for the initiative and his interest in strengthening cultural cooperation with the conference.
During the meeting, the delegation extended a formal invitation to the Algerian Ambassador to attend the upcoming edition of the Arab Community Conference, with further coordination to follow with the embassy’s cultural department to develop areas of cooperation. The ambassador, in turn, conveyed his sincere greetings to all members of the conference.
Mohammad Amin, Editor-in-Chief of Arab London, stated that the Arab Community Conference places the Palestinian cause at the centre of its priorities, noting that Algeria has consistently supported Palestine, particularly over the past two years through what he described as an intensive diplomatic effort to halt the Israeli war on Gaza, highlighting the prominent role of Algeria’s representative at the United Nations.
He added that the conference aims to present Arab cultural diversity in the best possible light and to empower Arabs in the United Kingdom to have an effective voice and representation. He noted that the previous conference, held in June, witnessed wide participation from the Arab community and diplomatic figures, and that the next conference will take place in June, expressing hope that the Algerian Ambassador will attend as guest of honour. He also referred to the organisation of the Arab Ramadan Iftar on 21 February, with the participation of several Arab communities.
The Algerian Ambassador to the United Kingdom stated that the idea of the Arab Community Conference serves the rights and responsibilities of the Arab community within British society, contributes to strengthening social cohesion within the community, improving its image, and developing relations between Arab countries and the United Kingdom. He added that the meeting was productive and allowed for discussions on the objectives of organising the Arab community in the UK, as well as its role in supporting development in Arab countries and establishing sustainable frameworks of cooperation between Arab embassies and the Arab Community Conference, particularly in cultural fields.
Professor Sabah Al-Mukhtar, honorary president of the Arab Community Conference in the UK and head of the Arab Lawyers Association, expressed his aspiration to build in the coming years a formally and publicly accepted Arab framework that connects diaspora communities with their countries of origin, emphasising the importance of preserving Arab identity among younger generations and strengthening cooperation with Arab embassies in this regard.
Ali Al-Qaddoumi, spokesperson for the Arab Community Conference, stated that the delegation was honoured to visit the Algerian Embassy and to consult with the ambassador on social cooperation between Arab communities and Arab embassies in the United Kingdom. He noted positive engagement and practical proposals for joint initiatives bringing together Arab communities, which will be further developed and presented for implementation in the near future.
Eman Al-Fazzani, founder of the Al-Fazzani Cultural House, emphasised the importance of preserving language, customs, traditions, and Arab heritage among children and grandchildren. She noted the shared cultural heritage of the Maghreb countries and expressed hope for a joint role with Arab embassies to strengthen and promote this cultural identity within diaspora communities.
